A New Year’s message from the President
Happy New Year! I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful holiday season with family and friends. I am looking forward to the new year and all the opportunities and possibilities of 2024. The new year often feels demanding during the first few weeks as we make plans and set our schedules. This can be a little overwhelming and stressful for all of us. I hope we all remember to engage in activities that restore us and give us the energy to care for our families, patients, clients, and students.
MSOTA is busy finalizing the events planned for 2024 and we look forward to seeing each of you. A few highlights include Legislative Day scheduled for January 31st. This is an event where our students from OT schools around the state advocate for our profession with MSOTA board members. We welcome you all if your schedule allows. We are excited to have a full-time lobbyist who will be ensuring that our voice is heard and our interests are being monitored. MSOTA depends on our OT practitioners keeping their memberships current, participating in our annual MSOTA conference, and volunteering in our grassroots efforts to advocate for our profession. Our Annual MSOTA conference is on the books for the last Saturday of February each year. Please join us on Saturday, February 24th, 2024. Refer to our website for details.
In closing, I hope to inspire you to contact your OT colleagues and encourage them to join their national and state organizations. AOTA has been extremely supportive of MSOTA and the collaborations between national and state organizations are critical for our profession during this time of healthcare transformation. We have many membership options to fit your needs, including multi-year, student, new graduate, and retired. It takes us all to promote and protect OT in Mississippi. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at [email protected]
With Appreciation,
Robin Parish DHA, MA, OTR/L, CHT
