Upcoming CE EventsAs a benefit of membership, MSOTA sponsors several continuing education events throughout the given year. Members are able to register for these events for free or at discounted rates. Continue to visit our website for information regarding upcoming events. MSOTA also provides information about other conferences based on the requests of our members and/or associates. MSOTA Coastal District Meeting/Free CEU EventThe MSOTA Coastal District Co-Chairs, Tanner Lee and Dalton Frederick, will be hosting a meeting/free CEU event on July 30th at Encompass Health and Rehab from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Christa Anderson, OTR/L will provide a 2.0 hour session on "The Hemiplegic Upper Extremity: Treatment and Management of Shoulder Subluxation while Promoting Functional Recovery." This session will provide participants with the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to effectively evaluate, treat, and manage shoulder subluxation in individuals following stroke (CVA). Participants will learn to identify the most common types and causes of shoulder subluxation, recognize its clinical presentation, and implement evidence-based treatment and management strategies throughout the rehabilitation process and amongst various settings. The course will include instruction and demonstration of neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) and therapeutic taping techniques to support shoulder alignment and function. Additionally, participants will gain an understanding of the Functional Upper Extremity Levels (FUEL) assessment, including its administration and application to writing functional, patient-centered treatment goals. Location for the CEU will be in the dining room at Encompass in Gulfport. Encompass is located in the east tower in Memorial’s building. There are signs around the building outside to help locate the east tower. Please park in the parking lot in front or behind the east tower inside the gates and enter the building through the door on the south side under the gray awning. Once entering the east tower continue down the hallway and take the first elevator to the right up to the 2nd floor. Once exiting the elevator take a left and enter through the double sliding glass doors and take another left at the reception desk. Continue down the hallway and take another left. As you continue you will see large glass windows on the left wall where the dining room is located. Attendance is free for all. MSOTA members only will receive a continuing education certificate immediately following the event for 2.0 hours credit. Pre-registration is required. Click here to register on-line.
