SOUTH CENTRAL DISTRICT MEETING/FREE CEU EVENT - SEPTEMBER 30, 2025

The MSOTA South Central District Chair, Danielle Whittington, is offering a District meeting/free CEU event on September 30, 2025. This event will be held at the Columbia-Marion Public Library on 900 Broad Street in Columbia, MS from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  The topic is "Do Oculomotor Impairments Impact Reading Comprehension and What Do We Do When it Does"  presented by Danielle Whittington, ED.S., OTR/L, CLVT.  Attendees will identify ways occupational therapy practitioners can provide meaningful input when identifying visual impairments within a school setting and apply strategies for collaborating with educators and families to ensure OT services support student achievement with Access for All components.  The MSOTA South Central District Chair, Danielle Whittington, is offering a District meeting/free CEU event on October 20, 2025.  This event will be held at Columbia High School/Academic Studio on 1009 Broad Street in Columbia, MS from 5:00 p. m. to 7:00 p.m.  The topic is "Bridging Classroom and Therapy:  OTs in the IEP Process" presented by Dr. Sara Bardwell.  This session will explore practical ways OTs can effectively contribute to IEP development, from providing meaningful evaluation data to writing functional, measurable goals that address participation, independence, and access. Participants will learn strategies to communicate their expertise in a way that strengthens collaboration with educators and families, ensures compliance with IDEA, and highlights the unique value of occupational therapy in the school setting. Real-world examples and case scenarios will be used to illustrate best practices, helping OTs feel confident and empowered at the IEP table.  MERIDIAN DISTRICT MEETING/FREE CEU EVENT - NOVEMBER 08, 2025

The MSOTA Meridian District is pleased to announce their 2025 Fall CE Event, hosted by Co-Chairs Scott White, OTR/L, CHT, and Sarah Whinery OTD, OTR/L. This year’s featured topic is “Burnout and Emotional Wellbeing” presented by Clinical Psychologist, UMMC Professor, and Director of the Center for Integrative Health, Dr. Danny Burgess, Ph.D. This event will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Baptist Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, MS, located in the auditorium from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Occupational therapy professionals are at risk of burnout, impacting both personal and professional life. This event aims to address the occupational therapy professional’s emotional wellbeing and ability to effectively identify and combat burnout. When attending this event, practitioners can expect great content with practical application, and will leave feeling informed and empowered.
